We are a division of the North Providence Police Dept. The North Providence Animal shelter is a municipal shelter, accepting stray animals for the City of North Providence.

We have 2 full time Animal Control Officers, a Volunteer/Foster Program Coordinator and several volunteers. We are a small shelter consisting of 6 dog runs, a cat room which houses up to 12 cats, and a quarantine area which houses all cats for 10 days, prior to them entering the general population and our open cat room, known as Rosie's Room. Our goal is to keep every animal safe, healthy and happy, until they are placed into a caring and loving home.

The Animal Control Center is open to the public. Visit us at 900 Smithfield Rd, which is the north side of Mineral Spring Ave. Animal Control Officers respond to calls all day and night. Please call first, to make sure someone will be at the shelter when you visit at (401) 719-1516. Or email us at NProvshelter@gmail.com.
